Kia ora everyone!

Man time has flown by as we are now half way through August!

Since my last post a month ago I have experienced a bit of a low in my personal life which like anything we go through forces us to look at ourselves and choose to either learn from it or ignore it.

I am someone who chooses to face it, to make sure I learn from my mistakes, grow as a person and move forward but, with this comes a few exertions that bite me in the butt. This could be seen right away from my unsettled sleep pattern and my resting heart rate being up 5-7 beats.

One thing in the past that I have found helps me strengthen my mind is the gym. I started getting back into weight sessions around my triathlon sessions and pushing some heavy weights. This directly impacted my ability to swim, for a period of 3 weeks I started hitting the wall in every swim, I was not able to keep up with my times and my arms were tiring out and was getting frustrated.

So, I decided to switch things up and over the last 3 weeks I have been attending yoga classes which I have found not only has been helping me with my flexibility, strength and control.

During the last few weeks I have started ticking all my boxes again, sleep pattern has come right, resting heart rate is back to normal being 2-3 beats below my normal, my swimming has come back on form and I have done one of my biggest training weeks of almost 18 hours and feeling positive and strong because of it.

Until next time keep on trucking forward, train hard and most importantly have fun! 😊.
