Kia ora everyone, I hope your week has been epic! (Kia ora is hello in NZL native language)

After a week on the road for work I am now back in Hamilton which is allowing me to get back into my routine. It's funny, for me once I am out of a routine I find it difficult to continue to train however, as soon as I am in my town my mind is excited to get back into it.

This makes it challenging to tick all the boxes in my job due to traveling about. During the previous week I was in the South Island of New Zealand driving 800-900km and running 12 meetings over 5 days. As you can imagine this is extremely draining so I find myself making excuses to focus on work for the week.

I'm lucky though, At present I do not have too much structure to my training as we are waiting for my follow up x-ray on my foot which is on Monday the 30th of May to get an understanding of where I am at and start to plan my rehab.

My rehab focus to build my running back up will be on the treadmill & elliptical trainer. This is so that I can control my speed, my surface (Since a treadmill more cushioning than the road) and obviously nothing to roll my ankle and re-break my foot. It wasn't until Sunday last week that Simon Cochrane and I chatted about my recovery plan and thought it was time to give the elliptical trainer a go and thankfully I can use it pain free but still, I can't wait to get back on the road and trails.... I really do miss the feeling as it is my favourite discipline out of the three however, that has started to change.

I have a great routine in the mornings. 4 mornings during the week I wake up at 4.30am stretch, activate my core, have a coffee and then head to the pool for our 5.35am swim sessions. I love that we can stand around, see what our session is going to be, chain and at 5.35am on the dot we are off for our set. Over the last 6 weeks (Minus my week down south) I have been swimming an average of 12km a week and slowly but surely I have started to feel muscles starting to activate, feel when my stroke is correct or incorrect and because of that I have begun to enjoy it more and more as I am not feeling like I am thrashing myself around in the water lol.

I must admit it is an incredible feeling to be back training and once again surrounding myself with like-minded people. I am enjoying the challenge and as one of my Instagram post' said this week "I'm not as fit or strong as I used to be, but I can guarantee I'm going to be back stronger than ever before" I know through my determination, passion and hard work I will achieve this.

There are no short cuts in this sport or "special tools" it’s all about ticking the boxes and remembering why you are doing it. I have been interviewing my next inspirational person for "13 questions with....." and it is an amazing what you learn about someone and I look forward to sharing their journey with you very soon.

Below are a few shots from my week of training and my trip down south if you would like to check them out. Also, if there is anything particular that you would like to know about me or subjects you would like me to post about please comment below or contact me. I am even happy to share my favourite set of the week if you like for you to try?

Well until next time train hard :)
