Making yourself accountable

 Hey guys!

I hope everyone is well!

I had a good blast in the weekend at a half marathon and surprised myself completely. I thought I would be around over a 1.25 hour half marathon however, after pushing through a few minutes of stitch at 8km mark I came out feeling even stronger finishing a testing half marathon in 1.23.43 so, I was pretty stoked to know I am already on track to be where I was 16 months ago. Massive thanks to James from Apex Insurance for getting me to the start line!

Now, onto my title of "Making yourself accountable" my #Broga (Yoga buddy) Roger started chatting to me the other day about eating etc. and I could see he was mentally struggling for motivation to clean up those unhealthy snacks which add up calories and to be honest I have also. - You can follow Roger on Instagram @tryingathlete

After sleeping on it, I woke up the next day and sent him a message saying lets support each other and hold each other accountable with a weigh in every Monday and focus week by week without making it a big deal of cleaning up eating completely and not having treats. It’s not "Roger vs Mike" or anything, it’s just us trying to better ourselves and make smart choices which in return our body will love us for it.

As you can see from the image at the top we are off to a good start turning down ginger crunch and cookies ;). Tonight is our first "weighed in" so I will keep you guys updated with our progress and also a break down on what I have found working.

TSB update; after two weeks of only a few hours of riding time I have noticed that the TSB has dropped and with big weekend runs then has meant low volume at the start of the week. This however has also resulted in my body firing and recovery being pretty quick which may explain a great run result. I will continue to let you know how I get on with this as we start to build back up with a solid 5 hour ride this weekend and another long run to top it off.

Until next time, keep on training smart and keep your feedback coming :)
